1. On January 24, 1997, in Tallahassee, Florida, Mary Ward lost custody of her twelve-year-old daughter to her ex-husband, even though he had murdered his first wife. Circuit Judge Joseph Tarbuck revoked Ward’s custody, saying he wanted to give her daughter a chance to live in a “nonlesbian” world.
